    Dimples....

Is there an easy and cheap way to dimple holes in 1/8" sheet metal without spending a fortune on dies, or is that the only way? Looking to do about 1.5" holes. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. My plan was to use the dimples as foot traction on my sliders and bumper (turning them upside down, dimple up) and I think it looks good. Does anyone has a different idea that would work as well? I thought about expanded metal but I don't really like that look and it would jut get clogged up with debris and mud. Thanks!

Check out Eastwood and their dimple dies. Fairly reasonable in price and they have a couple of options. I've seen the bearing/race trick, but I would prefer something purpose built. I may pick up a die for an upcoming project.

How about getting the metal prepared with the locations of the dies already marked out and bring it somewhere that has the tools and pay them to do it. Probably pretty cheap. I bet Harbor Freight has the dies cheap enough.
