JKU Hard Top Storage System
I took the hard top off and put the Cargo Top on a few weeks ago. I built my hoist with some 3/4 inch steel pipe, pipe hangers, foam insulation, rubber tubing, u-brackets and an ATV winch I found on sale at harbor freight. The entire hoist system cost me about $120.

The problem I quickly discovered is that I had an expensive hard top hanging right in the middle of my garage where the seven year old would eventually hit it with a hockey puck, stick, lacrosse ball...something. It also only had the one point of catastrophic failure. We also have 10' ceiling height in our garage so we had to duck or walk around the top to go through the garage.
So other than banging my head on the top, banning the boy from the garage and losing sleep over my hard top falling until October I came up with this sliding storage idea...

I can now lift my hard top up, slide the shelf under it, disconnect the hoist, lower the rear window and push the hard top back up against the wall and out of the way. I can also store my freedom panels, half doors, and fastback top on the shelf. Future changes will have a place for the full doors and my tube doors.
I have some tweaks I need to make to it, but all in on the rolling "shelf" I have about $200. I built it using barn door track and hardware from Tractor Supply, 1/2 inch threaded rod, and 2x6's.
If you want more of a detailed write up on this let me know.
As a side note, I absolutely love my Offroad Heros Top. Customer service was awesome and delivery was exactly as promised and on time!
