Well after losing most of my stick on weights and my most recent tire rotation my tires were shaking horribly. I read a lot of reviews of people using airsoft BB's to balance their tires. I saw some though that said they didn't work so it had me concerned about giving them a try. The one thing I started to notice though was that most of the people that said they didn't work were using the light BB's (.12 gram) and needed to add very large quantities to reach the 8oz per tire. I think with so many of them it actually made it harder for them to disperse properly to balance. I know the dyna beads are made of ceramic and very dense for their size so you don't have to add a large amount to reach 8ozs.
So today I went to wallyworld and looked at their airsoft BB's. I noticed they had a few tubs of ones that were .25 grams a piece, more than double the weight of the regular ones. I grabbed a tub of 5,000 of them for $15 and headed home. Once home I popped the bead on my tires, poured in 8ozs in each tire(I measured them out on a small kitchen scale and put them in sandwich bags) and filled them back up and remounted them.
One the test drive it was great as I realized the shake was gone and my jeep was once again rolling smooth. I even pushed it up over 70mph and it was smooth as glass!! It actually seems to balance better the faster you go. It still has a little shake down under 30-35mph because I don't think they really get slung out good and start to balance until at least 35-40mph.
Just wanted to share my experience with airsoft BB's and to give a heads up to those who are thinking about doing it to try and use the heavier one's as I believe they will work better. It's nothing scientific as I've never even used the lighter .12 gram ones, just an observation on what I've read of others experiences.
