I'd never lost anything in that abyss, but one day wheeling at the Badlands a hornet cruised into my Jeep and directly down into that gap! I just knew he was going to pop out the bottom, fly up my shorts and sting the vocabulary right outta me. Luckily, it didn't happen, but I plugged that gap the next week.
