Key question..

Bought a 08 Wrangler Unimited and got 2 keys with it.
Went to the auto parts store to have another key made and they said I would have to go to the dealer because the ignition key was computerized.

I asked about the plain (valet) key and they said if I tried to crank the Jeep with the valet key it would not crank and it would lock it in the ignition and then it would have to go to the dealer to have it removed.

Is this true? Ive never heard of this happening but it is a Jeep..

You can program a third key yourself if you have two keys. I bought a blank on ebay for like $7 had it cut at a hardware store and then programmed it myself. Just google the procedure.

Just curious if the plain key will actually get locked in the column?
