    Treadwright MT Claws

Had been on the fence about these for some time. And taking into consideration my financial situation I had to go with them. The price is jaw dropping. Their customer service needs work...

    First observations...

Nice, aggressive tread. Could use a bit more on the sidewall, but no biggie.

TW now uses bead to bead on all MT's (and maybe other styles), so no more other companies names on the sidewall.

Not too heavy (70lbs.) and they were extremely easy to balance.

Forgot to give a heads up so the shop set them at 50. It's like riding on wagon wheels at the psi. Literally. The ride is nice at 30.

They love to talk. It's not an annoying hum, but it's there from about 45mph and up. Calms a bit at speed.

They seem to walk a bit more than other tires I've owned. Not to the point of being uncontrollable, but you definitely need to keep your hands on the wheel on uneven pavement.

We got rain today so got some highway miles on wet pavement. No real issues at all. Felt solid and no tense moments.

I'll post up every so often and give updates...

What we need to know is if they hold up to spinning your tires on rocks. Do they spit out chunks of rubber ? Do they have good traction when wheeling? You got an off road tire, not all of us are interested on how they perform on road.

Well, considering I just bought them yesterday I haven't had time to get them on the trails yet. I wholeheartedly apologize to you for letting you down. 🙄

BTW, I'll be getting them on the rocks soon. And whether you care or not there are plenty of people here whose Jeeps are not only their trail rig, but their DD. So letting them know how a set of tires performs on pavement as well as rocks matters, as well.

Any other smartass comments you want to share?

But some of us are interested. What is your point? Only sharing information that everyone here is interested in? In that case: I own a Jeep. LOL!

I do have one more smart ass thing to say, how was I supposed to know you bought them the day before this posting? I also think when I said "not ALL of us" pretty sums up ShutterBugs comment of "But SOME of us are interested" What's wrong with you people, I was interested in how they perform off road. BTW, thanks for your apologies on letting me down, apologies accepted. Don't let it happen again! lol. I also just bought new tires, want to know how they perform ?

If you care to share, we'd care to know.

I just bought 35" KO2s. The do great on and off road. Not quite as aggressive as the Duratracs, but they are much quieter on road.

How were you supposed to know? Gee, maybe the entire beginning of my post would have let you in on that secret. Then the closeup photos of the tires with the vent spews still attached. Then after that the two words "first observations"...

You drink coffee ? lol I am not a P.I. and didn't inspect your pics. My Pro Comp Xtremes MT2 are a little noisy on road but not bad, about the same as my last set of Toyo's. Off road they are still still stiff even though I have wheeled them about 6 times so for. I hope they don't throw chunks of rubber off sharp rocks like my last set. I felt no slippage when climbing rocks. It is also my d.d. but we go 4 wheeling every weekend. Because of that, I have a tendency to imagine most Jeep owners do that. That's why I wanted to know how they handled off road, I wouldn't mind spending much less on a pair of tires if they do good off road. I'm pretty sure these tires handle alot like most off road tires, on road, pretty crappy.

    Treadwright MT Claws

So I wanted to wait until my situation with these tires had fully resolved itself. And while it never was fully resolved, I’m pretty sure there won’t be any further actions between myself and Treadwright.

My suggestion is DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES.

I made my purchase around Aug. 14th. I mentioned problems with customer service. They do not answer their phones. It doesn’t matter which department you try you will get a voicemail. In order to reach a live person you must make at least four or five calls. The employee who handles SNAP purchases actually does so on his cell phone. In my case he didn’t answer my calls because he had “left his phone in his backpack”. The purchasing process was exhausting at best.

On Aug. 24th I was headed to my mother’s house to pick her up for her chemo treatment. While doing about 70 on the highway my passenger front began to make a horrible noise and the Jeep pulled to the right. I was able to make it to a local shop and they found this...

It was a crack in the tread due to separation. I immediately called them and after four calls spoke to someone. He had me send him the pic and said he would warranty the tire. He also offered to send me an extra tire for my trouble. Thankfully the shop that initially mounted hem still had my old tires and I was able to use one of them until the replacements arrived.

Everything seemed to be fine until the Lone Star Fall Crawl. The tires continued to be ok on pavement, even though there was still a lot of road noise. After we got the park I was a little apprehensive about how they would do. I was surprised. Great manners on park roads and plenty of grip on tougher trails. Plenty of bite and very little slippage. No mud to speak of due to dry conditions, but overall I was satisfied and hoped that the incident in Aug. was a anomaly. I was wrong...

On the way home (Oct. 22nd) we were (thankfully) about three miles from our exit to our house when I heard a loud pop from the passenger rear and then saw something black go shooting about 20 feet into the air. I immediately pulled over. Walked around to the passenger side and saw this... (following was taken on the side of the highway)...

Another separation. And on one of the tires they had sent me as replacements.

I messaged the company on Facebook (typically got the quickest responses that way) and let them know of my anger. Got no response. I then called them Monday and after multiple calls I reached their warranty dept. I was told I needed to submit a claim online and they’d get back to me. I asked to speak to a manager and when he came on I told him how my last claim was handled. Sent him the pic and he sent yet another tire to me. While speaking on the phone with him I told him the entire story and he asked me how much it had cost me to mount and balance my replacement tires. I let him know it was $20 per tire. He told me that to make up for all the money I’d spent he would refund me the $60 I was out. I let him know that while I appreciated the gesture having two tires go bad in less than two months and less than 1,000 miles was not a good sign. He agreed.

Two days later I received a response to my Facebook message and was told they’d be happy to refund me the entire amount and I could send back he tires. Considering they were financed that wasn’t an option. I called Michael again and let him know about the message. We both agreed that he $60 was sufficient. So I waited for the check.

Ten days later no check and I called. Multiple tries to get through and Michael informed me the check was in the mail. Waited another week. No joy. So I got in contact with their PR director through Facebook (only way to do it). He apologized for what I’d gone through and assured me he’d make it right. Three days later I messaged him again, asking what was going on. He told me a check for $15 was in the mail. When I told him I was told that the check was supposed to be $60 he informed me that mounting and balancing aren’t covered by any warranty. When I brought up how quickly I had two tires give out and all the hassles I had dealt with he blocked me. Four days later I received a $15 check. Mind you I had never asked for any refunds or compensation. They initiated all of that.

I had read nothing but glowing reviews. But after my experience I posted a respectful but critical review on their Facebook page and website. Both we deleted within 24 hours. I dug deeper and found hundreds of posts from others like me who had bad experiences and had their concerns and comments silenced. Many even said their obvious warranty claims were denied.

If you want tires for a non-streeted rig, these might be ok. But anything else and I’ll suggest you look elsewhere. When you combine a untrustworthy tire with some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced it’s not worth it.
