    CB Radios

This thread can be used as information for CB radios and stuff. I know when I first starting looking I didn't know where to start and hopefully this thread can help anyone with any CB radio questions. I'm no expert, but with my basic knowledge and a lot of members knowledge we can try to help you out!

Well for me, I want a basic unit that I will be able to use on the trail and don't really need far range. For others on here, they want far range and the best of the best - but I am on a budget and just looking for a trail CB.

I am ordering a Uniden PRO 510XL with a antenna mount on the rear tire carrier, with a firestik antenna 4 feet long. The kit I am looking at is on quadratec just type in CB radio or CB radio kit.

Mounting is up to you - maybe some guys can post where they mounted theirs, but I am going to get a mount by my right leg driver side and hook the microphone right next to the steering wheel. Others like to go above the mirror - all preference though.

I also plan on getting a "quick disconnect" so that I don't smack my antenna on the garage !

I went with the Cobra 75 and a 4 ft firestick. I run without doors and topless about 8 month out of the year and the 75 is easy to remove to avoid theft, you need a SWR meter to tune your antenna though.

I got a Cobra 75 for its cheap price tag, and clean install. I mounted a 3' firestik on the tailgate mount, but I'l having trouble getting SWR readings below 3... most likely a grounding issue.

I also got the cobra 75 and a firestick, i think. I got it as a whole package from this website:
    http://www.cooltechllc.com/jeep/jk_ultramount.shtml

Only problem for is that the versa mount does not work with my year wrangler(damn rounded edges). Need to talk some more with them to either get my money back for the versa mount or have them send me a solution. Or I will just figure something else out myself.

Tip: when you wire your CB, it is better to do it directly to your battery. This way you get a cleaner power source and you can power your CB while your jeep is turned off.
