I finally got around to removing my top. It went from 60 and raining to 95° in like two days. Here is what I built. Today the top was leaning fwd a little. Most of the time I get it right.

I don't even have a hard top but I like the freestanding idea, it opens up the garage.

^^haha.. look in the lower right corner and you'll see my hotrod... its waiting on the lift now.. rotary 9000 lb dual post lift..
but seriously,,this hoist sucks, nothing fancy and im kinda dreading the day of trying to get it back on because the ratchet straps are not just going to lower it easily..they are going to want to open fast due to the weight on them. but its literally only about an inch above the jeep itself.
Im thinking another shed just for the back and doors and stuff.. because as mentioned,,i hate losing a bunch of floor space on dead weight.
you laugh at me because im different,,but I laugh at you because you're all the same!!!
You could pull the Jeep under the top and Jack the back of the Jeep is by the rear diff to get it as close as possible before lowering top. Also. After you get to building another setup, you could use the straps but hook it to a hand or electric which like in one of the previous posts. A wireless electric winch would be awesome.
