Total cost about $125, and I couldn't be happier.

And that's the thing. I've used the entire back section here the last month 3-4 times for materials building a fence, hauling wheel barrows, etc. so it's tough. But with clear windows in the soft top (that is until I need a new top), something like this cover would provide much needed security

This is EXACTLY what I have been wanting to do!

Question though. Is there a reason the forward and rear dimensions don't match up? I'm sure it's something I overlooked.

I want to do this so bad. Gotta figure a way to make a cheap one out of another material to make sure it all fits. I've never done anything like this, and don't want to dish out the cash for diamond plate and then eff it up.

Converted the cardboard to wood...lots of sanding and cutting to get it to fit right.

Inserted some tee-nuts to fold the fasteners into the wood.

I did one exactly like TATER's. I painted it so I could wipe it off easily. Easy build and the kids stand on it all the time, so it is strong.

I believe that Lowes or Home Depot have a heavy duty floor covering that is meant for garage floors that has a diamond plate pattern and you can get it in black. That would simplify installation and decrease weight over real diamond plate. Unless you're going for the shiny look, that may be and option.

Actually found a 4'x5'x3mm size from Sears here: http://www.sears.com/rubber-cal-diam...9&blockType=G9

Hey guys so I never really finished This writeup. I love my deck cover especially the price. It's still wood as I've determined I like the look of it. It has been waterproof and has held up to direct rain so far. Here are some additional pictures from the build. If you have Any other questions feel free to shoot me a pm or post it up here!

You may notice that some pieces fold up and then in. This is so the unit remains one whole piece and still fits diagonally out either side between the cage and door surround.
